Hi, we are baby unit, our team consists of:

Nicola has been at HeadStart since April 2004 and has made the move from the 3-5 year olds room in 2013 to join the baby unit team a big contrast in age range and development, but she finds the babies fun and very rewarding. Since starting at Headstart Nicola has married and now has her own precious daughter.
Gabby joined the team in Baby Unit in April 2015. She has a Level 3 qualification in childcare since 2007 and has since worked with 3 month to 4 year old children. Gabby comes from a large family with lots of nieces and nephews. She and her partner have a baby boy born April 2018.
Brittany joined the Baby unit team in September 2017 on a part time basis to help us cover maternity leave and we decided not to let her go. Brittany is a children’s nanny to a family of 3 children the rest of the week and has 2 horses which keep her very busy.
Emma Baker joined the team in July 2019
Jeff completes the team as he covers all rooms at HeadStart. Jeff has a level 2 qualification and has worked at HeadStart since June 2004; Jeff is married with a young daughter.
Our baby unit is a caring, homely and secure environment that allows the children to grow and develop. We provide fun activities and experiences both indoor and outdoor in our baby unit garden as well as our veranda.
The babies enjoy a variety of activities including music and messy play. Our room is arranged so that if we want to we can split the room in two which can help if we have little babies so that the older ones can play with the pushchairs and sit on activities.
There is a separate sleep room that allows the babies to get their much needed sleep in a cot. We spend a lot of time communicating with every parent and carer to ensure we know every detail about their babies needs ensuring we replicate their home environment and routine as much as we possibly can.
We have our own garden, which has been re furbished and re surfaced; it has a herb garden and a lovely play house, along with a purpose built wooden climbing frame. We like going for walks on the playing fields and to see the ducks in the park as well as going to the playground at Pavillions.
